Quality Checks before releasing Coup Project Data

  1. Make sure all variables have been filled in properly
    1. Is there aleast a '1' in one of the following fields: military, dissident, rebel, palace, foreign, auto, resign, popular, counter, and other?
    2. Is there atleast a '1' in one of the following fields: noharm, injured, killed, harrest, jailed, tried, fled, and exile?
    3. If noharm =1, then does injured=0 and killed = 0?
    4. If noharm = 0 then does either injured =1 or killed =1?
    5. If event_type = 'coup' then is realized = 1, unrealized = 0, attempt=0 and conspiracy=0?
    6. If event_type = 'attempted' then is realized = 0, unrealized = 1, attempt=1 and conspiracy=0?
    7. If event_type = 'conspiracy' then is realized = 0, unrealized = 1, attempt=0 and conspiracy=1?
  2. Make sure coup_id is unique and there are no missing values.
  3. For year, month, and day, do we have any values that are equal to 0?  If so, we need to fix these cases
  4. Are there no missing values for cowcode, country, year, month, day, and event_type
  5. Check to make sure that the events we added are not duplicate events?
